It’s MD Awareness month and over the next few weeks we’re excited to share the inspiring stories of people who are choosing to push through the pain, put smiles on their faces, and not let MD steal their lives. We’ll also share stories of some heroic caregivers who have their own inspirational stories of love, sacrifice and hope. There are nine major types of muscular dystrophy (MD) that present in over 30 different forms. Over the next month, we’re going to share more about each major type.
If you are not familiar with MD, you are not alone. Those of you older than 30 may remember the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. The 21-hour telethon aired for 44 consecutive years until 2010 to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a not-for-profit organization that focuses on research and a cure. The Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation (MDFF) is not associated with MDA. We serve MD families in the state of Indiana and help MD families through financial assistance with adaptive equipment and direct support services.
We believe each person was uniquely and wonderfully made, and think you will be inspired by the stories and lives we share this month and how they have chosen to not let MD stop them!
